ANNA WAISMAN (born 1928)
Born in Strasbourg in 1928, into a family deeply rooted in religion
and art, Anna Waisman quickly abandoned dance to take up sculpting along the banks of the
Seine river. Initially discovered by the artist Zadkine, and later encouraged by
intellectuals and critics alike, Anna Waisman succeeded in exhibiting her works in the
most prestigious Paris art galleries. Her sculpture has been widely acclaimed and
publicized in television programs on the BBC, as well as in newspapers and magazines
throughout Europe. She has been awarded a laureate for a commissioned work commemorating
the victims of the Holocaust in France. Anna Waismans sculpture has been requested
by the Dimona Museum in Israel, and is in the collections of the Rothschild families, as
well as the Picasso Society in France. |
